Even though it’s hard to dedicate a lot of time to any one aspect of their life in today’s busy world, parents that dedicate even a small amount of time to the problem of adolescent obesity are increasing their chances of either preventing it before it happens or being able to overcome it after it starts to have an effect on their children. With that in mind, here’s a quick guide to obesity and adolescents.

The Problem – Most of the time parents aren’t even aware that adolescent obesity is such a big problem in America. The first step is to realize it’s a problem and to take it seriously. It’s not a problem that affects every family in this country, but the problem is affecting more and more people every year.

The Solution – After you realize that there may be a problem or already is a problem with the weight of your child, the next step is to research and put an action plan into place. Take an active role in helping your children get to and stay at a healthy weight.

Your Role – Your overall role as a parent also extends to preventing or reversing adolescent obesity. That is, you’ll want to make sure you take the lead and help guide your children down the right path to a happy, healthy, in shape body.
